Phoenix - Long Distance Call
Phoenix have only been around since the the late 1990s, but they never fail to deliver and they’re just so groovy. There is no other word to describe it, and not all rock-synth can claim that much. You’re probably familiar with 1901 and Lisztomania from Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix, the band’s widely popular 2009 album. I’m pretty sure at least one song from that album made it’s way onto all of my play lists that summer. It’s probably because their sound is incredibly smooth and the lead vocalist, Chris Mars, has such a dreamy voice.
United is my favorite album and I spent a good 20 minutes doing a write up for my favorite song, If I Ever Feel Better, but then I realized it’s already been posted. So instead I have for you Long Distance Call from the 2006 album It’s Never Been Like That. A bit more rock and a bit less 70s funk, the album has a bit of a softer feel than the subtle electric sound that hints at listeners in previous albums.
Enjoy!
